Sharing and permissions
Dashboard permissions apply to one dashboard at a time. A person can own one dashboard and be a viewer or editor of another.
- Owner — can edit the dashboard, manage sharing and visibility, transfer ownership, or delete it.
- Editor — can add, remove, edit, and run blocks. Editors cannot change dashboard visibility.
- Viewer — can open the dashboard but cannot edit it.
Visibility
Section titled “Visibility”Dashboards support two visibility modes:
- Private — only the owner and people who have been granted access can view it.
- Anyone with the link (
link_view) — anyone with the URL can view the dashboard anonymously and read-only. Editing still requires authentication and permission.
An anyone-with-the-link dashboard also exposes preview metadata so its URL can render as a card in tools such as Slack and Linear.
Change visibility from the dashboard’s sharing controls or with the dashboard_set_visibility MCP tool.
Working together
Section titled “Working together”People and agents can work in the same dashboard. Presence shows who else is there. While someone is editing a block, BitBoard prevents another editor from changing that block at the same time.
